Interesting looking gauge. So it replaces the bolt group and and you turn the wheel to engage the locking shoulder?
Or is it designed to be used without the locking shoulder, to gauge the reciver itself?

When you turn the knob, there is a piece that comes down from the bottom, which looks like it may engage against a locking should and the gauge becomes longer.

Ah yes, our Kevin showed us this gauge a couple of years ago ... More worrying I responded to his post and have zero recollection of doing so!

Who are you and who is Kevin......... Think we are all heading there John, I've looked at old threads and posts and have no memory of it whatsoever............ could be down to the Rum and Guinness during the winter months in my case or too much Hobgoblin Gold, Proper Cider or Occasional Larger in the Summer months...... (especially the last few weeks)
Now where have I put them keys.....

Its a nightmare Geoff, if I don't write something down straight away, its gone. Reminds me of one of Alexi Sayles 1980's jokes.

Another one of his that always makes me laugh, he said that their family was so poor in Liverpool after the war, that he was dressed for school entirely from the Army and Navy Store ... He was the only Japanese Admiral in his school!

Two names you mention John, Tandy and the Army Navy Stores.............. my first metal detector was from Tandy and as for shopping in the Army Navy stores you could be whatever you wanted.
Several items I had I could range from a German Para to an RAF pilot escaping ......... More to do what film I'd been watching, obviously the Eagle has landed and the Great Escape were the influence on German Para and RAF pilot.
The stuff what was in that store is mind boggling, the most useful was the Gas Mask bag which was used at the end of primary and start of Secondary school.

Started with a 37 pattern gas mask bag and went to the 37 pattern large pack for school books Geoff.
Bought my first P1907 bayonet at the same time! £6 each, all WW1 dated and cosmoline covered in wooden crates with about 50 in each ..
