AK zero scheme

I saw a good video on AK "5 Things you need to know about AK". In the video it had a segment on AK zeroing. I agree most people think AK is inaccurate because the rear sight settings do not actually correlate to the yardages ad marked. This is true. The markings are for meters, not yards.
The second reason is because we tend to zero at 25 yards. Far cry from the originol design calling for 100m zero.
Here is where it gets interesting. The trajectory table shows a 14m zero to be same as 100m zero when rear sight is set on "P". I plan to test this out soon.
They said that when done this way, the sight markings will be correct.

I had one in Gagetown NB for small arms displays that I shot regularly and it wasn't said that one was inaccurate. It could hit target pasters on the target...perhaps the people shooting have less determination to shoot than required?

We did have 1000 inch targets, which is this...

People term things incorrectly, you group at 25, but zero at 100...meters or yards, whichever you need. At 25 you just move the MPI to the POA so you can actually hit at 100. That's why targets in the military have places to aim v/s where the bullets strike.

I realize it has been 29 years since my basic training. But i distinctly remember zeroing at 25m. We never fired on a 100 meter range.

Really? I can't imagine. Though, the US and Canadian doctrine have differences... I quit the last reserve regiment 10 years ago and the regular army in '98.

In 1989 at Ft. Leonard Wood, we zeroed on a short range (which woulda been 25m) then spent the rest of the training block on the 300m pop up range.
Anyway, i was just so amazed at how wrong i was about commie weapons

First, they actually shoot straight and predictably. Second, the sights are well designed. Thirdly, their ammo works very well with these sights. I enjoy this new found flavor of fun!

And to think. My whole military career, i was convinced the enemy could not touch you at 300m. Boy was i wrong!!

Curious where that notion came from?

Korea and Vietnam fought against Russian Shoulder weapons and .............

Mortars, artillery and rifled machine guns.
