My dad's gun collection... which ones would you choose first?

Hey everyone,

Just going through my dad's estate gun collection that our family will potentially distribute 3 or 4 ways, depending on who would like to have them.

I am very interested in them but would like to hear from others which they think would be the most collectible or valuable. I know there are a few no-brainers but have a look and let me know what you would choose or which you think have more value.

See no Lee Enfields, clearly a man who liked a different variety of rifles. The Steyr 95 is my favourite, but great collection. Must be a nightmare remembering the right rounds to take to the range

I agree completely and it was my first thought. Pay the others out for their share value and keep them all. You can look at them over extended time and decide later. Most of them will gain value, and you can never tell when they will take that huge jump...

If I had to choose...as a shooter...

1) Garand M1D without the foghorn on the front. (Note: think about photos you have seen of space rockets, think of Venturi tubes... by reducing gas velocity, those things actually increase the back pressure = recoil, whatever they may do for the flash).

2) Finnish Mosin - generally the most accurate of the Mosin-Nagant family, as the Finns selected out what shot well, mixing and matching if necessary.

The rest are (for me) of little interest as shooters. Let the others have them!

Can always be shot without or just kept for display and interest. I can't see shooting it with those installed... M1D would for sure be the first dip for me too, value foremost here...

The M1D is worth `the most` but in the US, if it doesn`t have CMP - DCM paperwork, it`s not worth a premium.

The Portuguese K.98 are prized by collectors as war time K.98s which have (generally) not been rebuilt, and are as close to as-issued war-time guns as possible.

As a note, many Portuguese marked K.98s never got shipped to Portugal, rather they got expropriated back into German service due to war emergency requirements. The K.98 collectors were narrowing in on specific German shipping blocks within Portuguese marked rifles, given a large boost when the Russian capture K.98s were released onto the North American market a few years ago.

those are the 2 I would keep myself if I was in the situation.
