brick26,
I guess we're slow to reply....... being we're not used to seeing real parts !
Beautiful wood......... Possible that's a MU marked stock ?
Does you Flip sight leaf have the .U. stamped on it ?
Front sight marked on the front edge ?
What serial number range is it ?
Thx for sharing it.......

Looks like a 2583xxx and yes it is rare that we real parts as Charlie said. I like the patina, it's a nice verification of authenticity.

I'd have to dig a chart out......... But I believe @ 2,583 you'd have a receiver made by United Shoe Mfg. for Underwood.
Is there a letter S stamped on the rear tang ?

That surprises me and can't explain it.......
United Shoe Mfg. was sub contracted by Underwood (among others) to supply receivers and were assigned the serial number block 2,577,000 - 2,599,000,
Most commonly found with the small letter S stamped inside the Ordnance Bomb on the rear bevel.... below the serial number. But not always having the Bomb stamp there, sometimes just the S or other letter code (W, T, B) depending on which Sub contractor made the receiver and the serial number range in that 2 mil block.
Underwoods can be tough to track in the 2 mil serial number block.
UEF built their 1 mil block, then jumped past the 2 mil block and started their 4 mil block.... only to drop back about July of 43 to start the 2 mil block which included not only Underwood made receivers but also the 4 sub contract made receivers known as the T, W, S and B coded ones.
This is why you can find some Underwoods in the 4 mil serial range with earlier dated barrels than some 2 mil Underwoods.
And this just scratches at the surface of their production order.
Probably more than you cared to know........ But I was on a Roll...
Get that way sometimes after having coffee after dinner.
Either way, very nice carbine.
How did you acquire it ?
Would it be possible to get a close up Macro type picture of the rear bevel?
