#5 bayonet with a difference
I found this pic while looking through things, a #5 bayonet with a distinct difference. Nothing about it looks standard. Wondering if it's a copy or just late SMG bayonet? I have no pics of markings...it's in Canada

I think that it is a hybrid. Using an Australian blade with the rounded fuller (that caused us problems in service) mated to a No5 cross-piece and pommel. Probably using a No5 with a broken blade. NJote the distance between the screw centres. They mate/match the L1A1 rivet centres whereas the the No5 screw centres are a tad closer together.
Prepared to accept defeat and been corrected of course but after having seen a zillion of them.......

Looks like a standard British blade that was cut down and a new cross piece added. Indian or Pakistan manufacture would be my guess.

Wish I had it in hand to confirm things but unfortunately...and it's the only one I've seen like it. Just that the round fuller isn't even close. The screws are strange too...

Looks like a Canadian C1(SLR) blade with some 07 bayonet wood grips, and two "BFO" screws.
With the price of some local C1 bayonets it's not a cheap reproduction, some SLR bayonets are now only a few £££'s behind a real No5 bayonet

No, I carried one for 15 years and inspected them regularly enough...the fullers are not even close. The blade profile is way off anything I could imagine except perhaps a K98 blade, then only slight resemblance. Not a modified C1 blade though...
I sent the guy a message and asked for blade pics.

Here are a few photos of my small collection of No5 style blades. For reference, the bade that actually came from a No5 bayonet is at the top and is white marked "No5". The Australian blade is white marked "L1A2" AUS. It is probably worth mentioning that this blade ( "L1A2" AUS.) is unmarked, as I believe all Australian SLR bayonets are.

RFI spells an Indian blade at least. Maybe it's cobbled up using a 1A1 blade or it's a purpose built RFI marked reproduction. Didn't all standard issue Canadian C1/C1A1 bayonets have chrome plated blades? Mine certainly does.
