I am curious to know if many collectors in the USA or Canada own the Soviet PSM pistol ?
I did read that examples have been presented to US officials and military over the years(one example was even engraved). Also they can not be imported to the US yet a few have been offered on auctions over the years ($3000 plus price range).Attachment 100623

My photo shows the military loading which the Soviets claim will penetrate soft body armor?
The center cartridge is 38 Special for comparison.
I believe there is a soft point 5,45mm cartridge available now as the military loads are not imported any longer. Some owners use the 22 Hornet case to make these cartridges, they
turn-off the rim and cut the extractor groove then size and trim.Attachment 100626
If there are some in Canada the amount would be very few. Any in country would have been brought in pre-1994 so very limited time frame where it would have been possible to buy one.
I don't have any direct knowledge about the pistols, but I have heard of a few that got into the US. The standard issue ammo is actually fairly common, and you can find single rounds in the $10+- range. I actually sold a full box in April and I know of another full box that sold at the same cartridge show.
I have never seen or heard of a SP loading of the round. The only variations I have heard of are a white-tip reference round and a DDR solid steel dummy.
