Staff Sgt Baker

Got to put on my SEABEE sateens one last time, well my Dad's as mine was a bit tight. This was one of the best moments in my life.

Good to see you all...congrats to her. I had my combat uniform on recently for a look after 13 years, still fits. It's been work though.

I did the whole thing too, stayed mostly the same outside diameter. Just got taller. Let's see if I can find mine...
One in 1980 the night before leaving for my second overseas tour and one here at the end.

Thanks, just think it's because I'd filled out by the end. Wider in the shoulders and back...

Thanks...yes, I do try.
First pic I was about 23 and the last is 60...I think.
Unfortunately, my kids couldn't be convinced to join up, different mindset here...I'm afraid.

Twice I passed all the required tests & physicals got to signing the dotted line and said whoa up your too much of a rev head and hot tempered to buckle under I did serve in the cadets and thoroughly enjoyed it but then I was malleable my father served o/seas in WWII, my brother was a 20 year lifer in the RAAF who sadly passed away the week he was retiring to go to Qantas as an engine fitter, my b/inlaw went on a paid Asian holiday so there was plenty of military at home.
But on discovering bikes and girls hell no way was I goin' in guess it disappointed my Dad thing is I went off the radar at one point for 5 years my family did not know where I was or up to, nothing illegal 'cept speeding and the odd well 'um 70-80's party sorta thing in the scrub, I would have probably made a good serviceman but my life took me in another direction.
But one thing will never be erased from me is what my father instilled into me respect for the uniform no matter the service they are all doing their bit and that fellow milsurps is where I am at 40+ years down the track I have had a very interesting life with some rather alarming happenings in the world of operating cranes in the hire game, met many interesting people and places, caught in a chlorine leak, had acid rain literally sulphuric rain and so on.
Before you ask No! I did not tip one over ever had a couple of scares in demolition with mis-calcs by the demo team last cut you got it, YEP! I take that question like a person asking some of you "Ever shot someone mister" absolutely the wrong question to ever ask of a serviceman ever and then some.

Sadly that isn't so. Too late now I know but we had lots, and all kinds. All can be tempered and handled. All can be moulded…

That's the first question asked, seems it's a spectator question...
