M1 Garand Rear Sight markings
Can anyone share what the markings shown on the rear sight cover in the attached image signify? Thanks for any info. that you can share.

Thanks browingautorifle. That was one possibility (foreign issue) in my thinking since I could find nothing in U.S. technical print or online regarding this.

You know there were tons of returns from the Danish
? Most of the guns that were floating around a while back were. Lots of tells, Beech woodwork, zeroing tags inside the woodwork, barrels made by VAR instead of a US made...on and on. And that anchor on the sight spring.

Besides the excellent quality VAR barrels, you almost never see a Ferro Machine & Foundry M1 barrel. You would think by this point in
time some would have surfaced ? These Ferro M1 barrels (circle F) were shipped to Europe as replacements during the mid 1950's. I
once saw a Ferro M1918A2 barrel circle F and dated 5-56 and M1A1
cast butt plates by Ferro are around
