Help Identifying 1903
Hello everyone. I purchased a 1903 rifle a few years back and wanted to gain some information on it. The receiver is marked Rock Island Arsenal Model 1903 serial #415xxx. The stock is marked Springfield Armory. It is equipped with a Weaver scope on a Weaver mount. It appears at some point someone removed the front sight. Any information is appreciated. Let me know if more photos are needed.

Wowza, that’s a gorgeous stock. I’d wager it’s worth somewhere around half of what you paid for the whole rifle (guessing on what you might have paid).
The scope mount is pretty detrimental to the value of the rifle and it looks like it’s been reblued.
But again, wow, nice stock.

M1903A4gery
Many have tried to make M1903A4s out of other rifles. By your SerNo., it's a late RIA, possibly factory finished w/ SA parts. The bluing on the barrel is aftermarket. All '03A4s, to my knowledge have a full length barrel, with the front sight mounting notches retained. Receiver is late manufacture and the bbl is trash (although it could possibly shoot well). Nice stock. Looks like you have what M1903 collectors call a "Bubba'd deer rifle" Or an '03A4gery...My $.02. Unsure about the glass and mount. You might want to look into that. OK, $.03.

I bought it and additional firearms from a older gentleman who was getting rid of his collection. I acquired this 1903 and three additional firearms for 2k. Curious to know how much this one is worth.

rifle was made up from a sporterized hunting rifle. stock is a real C stock, markings are not genuine. those would be OK for a 43 Garand
, but not on a 1903.
value is the some of the parts.
450.00 to 600.00 to the right buyer.

SA GAW rebuild stamp
The SA GAW stamp was also used on rebuilt stocks starting in 1944, my photos show a Winchester stock with the SA GAW rebuild stamp and the AN stamp. I have seen another type C stock like yours also with the SA GAW rebuild stamp. A few years ago I sold a 1903A3 stock (from the Wisconsin Barn wood cache) also stamped with the SA GAW rebuild stampAttachment 103531Attachment 103530Attachment 103529

there is a seller on fleabay selling a large lot of M1
stocks with these crisp or made to look worn markings on them. this is not and can not be any sort of A4 or A4 replica, its a Rock island 1903.. not a 1903A3..
the A4 was a 1903A3 based action.
nothing A4 about it.
