Recently purchased Springfield Armory M1903 serial 352.754 as a deactivated rifle (barrel several times drilled and welded, bolt head milled off) and wrong stock which had been altered for the scope rail in a weird way. It doesn't matter much, since the important thing, the receiver, is fully intact and still has the original holes for the W&S scope rail with intact threading.
This serial is SRS listed with the following entry:
352754SGS 08050914TH INF (M1908 SIGHT #707)
(M1903 serial 352.754 - star gauged, scoped. 5th August 1909, 14th Infantry. M1908 scope serial #707)
.. therefore it is a documented sniper rifle, plus I additionally know the rifle originally had carried Warner & Swasey Telescopic Sight Model of 1908 serial #707. As a result to this, I'd kindly ask you all to keep your eyes open if this particular scope ever turns up - doesn't matter if it is missing parts, it would be simply great to get them back together.
Additionally I'd appreciate any input on which barrel date I should be keeping my eyes open, is any 1908 date correct for it? And if someone has a correct barrel or even a donor rifle, please send me a PM!Information
