Type 1 Service shoe
Good morning all. I need some help with a pair of boots I picked up at a salvation army. I think they are Type 1 Service shoe. They are practicly brand new. You can still see the leather stamp on the sole. I am hoping to get this verified. Thank you in advance for any information.

Looks like it except they were all oxblood color that I've seen. Those are older though and I suppose these were changed to black the same as holsters...

I was reading that they went away from leather soles after 41. I am wondering who would issue leather soles after?

I just wonder if they are reproduction or "made in the style of" boots because they look almost new. Surely if they were genuine military issue there would be some sort of military marking or identification on them, especially as they appear hardly worn.

The thing is , there were 2 pair exactly alike. I should have bought both pair. They were both in the same shape. Like they had been in storage. Kind of out of shape. The liners were slightly different. I live next to a very old airforce base.

According to this site, Type 1 shoes were brown. Type 1 repros run $300, but I suspect those are civilian made. CF Parade Boots are Black. No leather soles though.

If you didn't pay much for them it's no big deal if they are not genuine because they still look like a decent pair of boots. If you did over pay for repro boots, it's no use crying over spilt milk, as we've all made mistakes and in this case it's in aid of the Salvation Army, so an excellent cause, that helps fellow citizens in need.

Yes, to my understanding they are brown. I have an original pair of type 1 service shoes and mine are brown and still have the repair tag on them dated to 1943. Mine are in very good condition, not quite new, but very good condition. Seems mine were repaired and never worn again. They also came from an air Force Base,but in Douglas Arizona

Does your pair have any sort of "official marking" on them such as "US Army" or a stores number or any other marking, please?
