No 4 Mk 2 Burma Contract "To nice not to share"

This found me. It must have been meant to be as I had the matching NOS bayonet dated 54 in a drawer at home. PF prefix dated 3/54 in the Burma contract range. Appears unfired and very clean. The only real mystery is the gun appears very close to pristine
other than the brass butt plate which is quite scratched up along with the butt plate screws quite like one that had seen service but nothing on the edges at the buttstock. I would welcome any opinions on the rifle. And would be glad to post additional photos.

PS: all matching Bolt/receiver/magazine/stock.

A nice rifle with a scratched-up butt-plate might indicate a lot of use on a parade-ground (possibly gravel-topped) and little "active" use, i.e., being bumped in and out of vehicles, knocked against trees, rocks and solidly-constructed buildings, etc.

How sharp are the various original stampings on the wooden components?

I was holding that card. Ledgable but not sharp. but no obvious refinish on the lumber or rifle. The buttplate fits quit well at the edges. Damage to the butt plate seems to me to be impossible with no handling marks on the wood. Unless it has been as perhaps you suspect it is refurbished?
I polished it up a bit but will post photos.
Any tips on which photos might give the best indication of refinish?

Yes and yes. In the shape its in it never made it close to Burma or any other service location. Century marked.
