Questions about a Marine Raider Stiletto
Years ago I inherited a Military Knife Collection from my father. In going thru them I have a question concerning this one Marine Raider Stiletto. Hope to find some answers.
1. On back of scabbard is a name (I think) and a serial number. I can barely make it out. I believe the serial number is 339246. I can make out parts of the name, again I believe it's a Sergeant something and E. W following.
2. On front of scabbard he has drawn lines indicating where he's been stationed. Very hard to make out. First one is Paris Island SC, second possibly Washington DC, and about half way down I can make out the word Vista and last entry appears Bougainville. Again not completely sure on any of this.
The main question I have would any of the members here have access to looking up service record from a serial number? I would like to be able to put a name and record with this Knife.

I would try a search with the information that you have and for the names put "E." "W." because if it's like the UK
national archives an exactly correct name is not required. You may get quite a number of possible results to sift through but you will know if you have the right one by the serial number. If a full name is required try some possibles that begin with "E." and "W.".
