How can you spot an RIC carbine is their a definitive mark, I have a lee Metford carbine, I’ve always just thought of it as a commercial carbine as it has not British
military markings, however it does have a bayonet lug.

Michael, pictures speak a thousand words! If you could post some up, we might be able to help identify it for you.

Pictures would help tell what you have, but the RIC carbines were a specific conversion from Lee Enfield and Lee Metford carbines. There should be a brass disc on the butt that has RIC, a date and a four digit number on it.

Could be a commercial "trade pattern" carbine if it has a bayonet lug but no stock disk.
