Springfield 1903 NRA sporter
Hi new member here. My Father in Law left me a few rifles. One is a 1903 Sport model . It has serial number 1264976 . The barrel is marked SA 6-24
The bolt is marked W. L. 3 . It has a Lyman 48 C rear sight. The barrel front doesn’t show the star gauge mark . The barrel has had a barrel cap on it for many years so the mark may have worn off ?? . Is there any way one could find out if this is in fact a NRA Sporter model ? The leather sling does have a NRA medallion attached not that means anything. Thanks for any help you can give me . Thanks . Jim

My copy of the SRS shows this rifle sold through the DCM on September 18th, 1924. However, it does not list this rifle as a sporter.
Parts to make these look like a sporter were available and a lot met this fate.
Would love to see it if you can post some pics!
