Is This a Barnwood M1 Stock?

Hello,

I recently purchased a WRA/GHD stock for my Winchester rebuild. The previous owner stated he purchased it from Jim Yokum at Dupage Trading a few years ago.

I have attached a couple pictures for reference. There is a wood repair at the buttplate. I think the repair might be some of Rick borecky's handiwork.

Would it be possible to verify if this is indeed a barnwood stock?

Can't answer the question but that is a nice WRA/GHD stock. I think you should send it to me since it has a repair I can use it.

Roger that. I was thinking the same thing but the stock does not have a re-build cartouche from a depot or arsenal. Only has the factory cartouches.

That's what had me wondering if the repair was done outside of the re-build process.

That kind of patch was not uncommon at the factory for IHC, less so for HRA and WRA but not unknown. That's not Rick's work, his is almost always invisible.

Thanks for the info. It might be a factory repair or a repair done by an individual sometime later. I guess I will never know for sure. With the previous owner stating it came from Dupage, I was hoping it might have been a barnwood stock. Would have been an interesting story just on the stock.

a military repair to the top of the butt plate would have been a square cut and a new piece of wood added and
maybe pinned with the brass pins
