Searching for cocking piece for Turkish 1903/38
Hi all,
I recently acquired a Turkish
1903/38 but sadly, it's cocking piece is missing. I tried looking for one in the usual places, but no luck so far. Numrich seems to be out of stock, and Liberty Tree only shows cocking pieces for M98 Mausers.
Does anyone here know where I could get one (close matches would also work, I hear 1909 uses the same)?
I tried with a standard G98 cocking piece but it wouldn't even slip onto the back of the firing pin. The firing pin of the 1903 itself looks shorter than a standard 98, but the end with the cuts, that go into the cocking piece, is longer.
I'm also finding various infos that a M98 should work, but not in my case.
Any info would be very welcome.
Regards,
Dobby

If you place an ad in the WTB then you might get more results than open forum...have you?

Good morning. I had a similar problem with my Turkisk 38 recently. Somebody had modified the cocking piece to the point of it being unsafe. I had a couple of Mauser 98 cocking pieces laying around in my spare parts bin. None of those would fit on the firing pin. I took a chance and orders a new 98 cocking piece from Numerich. It fits and functions perfectly. You might want to give one a try.

If there is a picture of the damaged one with markings I can probably match it. I have a large amount of parts to look thru.
