Springfield Armory NHS "Wish List"
While visiting the Springfield Armory NHS several weeks ago, I picked-up a copy of their firearm wish list. Many of theses firearms I have never heard of or seen. If you know of somebody who might have one of these firearms, please forward them the list.
Thanks.

Gotta wonder about some of these --
Some are indeed rare -- others should be findable on the antiques market fairly quickly -- if Springfield/NPS has the cash.
Baker Rifles, Brown Bess muskets, most of the US martial arms (and I'd hope Uncle Sugar could scrounge up the M16
variants -- not like most of us have any. IIRC since all the -A3 and -A4 variants were produced after 1986 they CANNOT legally be in civilian US hands --) and the Remington double derringer should be standards in the antiques trade.
I'd guess that they're low on cash for acquisitions and are hoping for donations.

When I was a kid, there was a Ferguson rifle (breech load flintlock rifle from the Revolution) at the Kings Mountain battlefield museum in North Carolina. The inventor, Col. Ferguson, was a British
officer killed in that battle. It was a neat idea and you have to wonder about its future if Ferguson had lived.

There was a Ferguson breech loading rifle (the trigger guard screws down to expose the rear of the barrel) on display at Washington's Headquarters, Morristown, NJ when I was a kid. With the 'more enlightened' attitude toward firearms this piece and posters showing the required Militia equipment of the period are no longer on display.
