P14 for the First and, for a While, Only Rifle Range Day

We’re closing down again...
Most ranges will close, among them mine, so I decided to use this last day for pistl shooting in the morning, and rifle shooting in the afternoon.
I really enjoyed my P14 today.
First three shots in a great, tight group.
Second target, with a couple exceptions, definitely nice.

Here in the US the P14/M1917 doesn't seem to be a favored rifle for turning into a target rifle. I've never seen one with nice target sights. Thanks for sharing.

Unfortunately, in the US the M1917 has always been the red headed step child to the M1903 Springfield. The M1917 with a good barrel and the Parker Hale PH5B target rear sights are tack drivers. I have several made up myself. Unfortunately I have not been able to get out to shoot since last March. As things warm up in the spring. I will get there and shoot.

Sorry to hear about your range closing . In my part of Texas we have not had that problem for the general public . I have also not been affected as I have my private range . You do seem to shoot ok with a lot of different military rifles . To bad you were not over here as we had run military rifle matches each week for about 20 years . You would have had to keep all your shots at least touching the red center dot with an unmodified military rifle to have been competitive though . Using a good rest would help .

I must admit, that I never really looked at those two rifles for a long time, at least until I started expanding my collection five or six years ago.
Then, I started seeing them and reading about them, so I decided I had to take a look... and completely fell for both.
The P14 is a pussycat with the .303B round. Pleasant to shoot, mild recoil.
The M1917 rifle is a lot more "aggressive" with the 30-06, but the weight tames the round a lot.
Great both! And accurate.
So, I got them both in a matter of a few weeks.
And don't regret it!

You would always be welcome to come to Texas and shoot . I do not know if you could bring your rifles over , but you could pick one of mine to use . You would also be invited to go wild hog hunting at my game ranch if that sort of thing interested you . I would have the perfect hog rifle for you to use . A scoped 35 cal Carcano that shoots 275 grain bullets at 2200 fps , it works great on 200 lb + hogs .

Thanks Bob, I really appreciate. Same if you want to see Venice or the Dolomites.
Let's hope something like that will be possible sooner than later.
And wild hogs are really ok to shoot.
Also my customers and friends in South Africa have invited me for a wild hog hunt.
Would be great! But I must also butcher the beast, otherwise it would be too easy.

For now, I'd be happy to be free to go to the range or to own one...
Dreaming is not prohibited...yet.
