Hello, I am new to the forum and M1 Garand scene. Here is my first M1. It is a 1.2m range. I am sure the rear handguard is a replacment. Comments welcome.

Nice lookin' rifle over all. Interesting how it still has a gas cylinder lock screw and never got the upgrade, and a short fork follower rod "A" marked...which is correct for Winchester but was never changed. On the other hand has no front sight screw seal and the big head screw...is that a wide base? Hard for me to tell without comparison. Nice rifle...how's the bore?

The letter G has a vertical leg at the top of the real cartouche but I do not see one on the supplied rifle

I would agree with the others on the cartouche. It is a nice looking rifle and could have been a complete restoration or maybe it just need a few parts and a stock to complete. I have done alot of restorations and remember that the CMP years ago had some nice WW2 SA and WRA rifles that just need a few parts and the correct stock .

Sometimes when doing a nice restoration a person will not take the time to look for the correct original cartouched stock or not want to spend the money. I remember a few years ago, a gas trap reported as original in the 21K serial number range but with an obvious fake SA SPG cartouche.

I would look for an original Winchester WRA GHD stock
