Charlie that was a Really Great story about Jim, You & The Letter Opener. I Really enjoyed reading it

I have one I would like to share but I don't want mention names on here but I will email you who he was I just want to make sure I remember him and Not say the wrong person. The first time Jim and I started to msg each other and also it was how I knew he was a really good guy (You probably already know about this) I don't want to post all of it here and have to mention this guy's name because he was well known and this other member msg me and told me about him and that he knew a guy who sells really nice Carbine Parts. I guess they were setting up the new guy.

When I first joined this forum I wasn't here maybe a couple of weeks I was looking for a part and I message this guy who emailed me back and he told me that he knew a guy who had a bunch of parts and that if he had them he would give him my email and that he would get in touch with me. Well not too long after he did and I happened to buy a few parts from him. Then after a few days I showed them and nothing. The only reply came to me a few days later in a email from Jim whom I've never met nor even spoken to and he was asking me all about the parts and where I got them from and if I remembered his name. Dang, I thought I did something wrong but he asked me again the next day how I happened to find these parts and how much I paid again for them. Then after a few days of not replying back he emailed again and told me not to worry that he seen these parts a long time ago and he remembered them and asked me who sold them to me again because they were all Fake. Then I remember thinking to myself "Damn, I only been here a couple of weeks and I already got Burned" funny right. At first I didn't want to say, but I ended up telling him his name and he said he would get back to me. Well true to his word Jim emailed me and that he found out this member had another handle he would use on another forum and Jim also found out he was supplying parts to a friend who was selling these fake parts on eBay. He mentioned that he kinda suspected him of doing something that was not right and told to stay away from him and don't unless you show it first. I never seen him back on here but I happened to see him on this form about 3 years ago. He was on this other New Forum that popped up about 3 to 4 yrs ago and I also seen a couple of members here who are members on that one that was started by a Carbine Night Owl. Well I took it as a lessoned learned but Jim and I spent the next week emailing each other and he was given me a lot of advice and information about this and that and he started sending me a bunch of pictures of some of his collection. Then he asked me for my address that he had something that he wanted to send me and said that I could learn a lot from it if I was going to be buying items that were considered Collector items. When I received the Package it had a couple books and some FM's and a couple tools then I opened a small package and inside where the 4 parts I got burned on. I couldn't believe Jim this guy I didn't know replaced those Fake parts with Actual WW2 Original ones. I can't even tell you how long I tried to pay for them and he Never would accept a Dime for them he just said enjoy them and always remember to take your time when your fixing your Carbines and Not to waste any Money on MixMasters just enjoy Shooting them. What Good Guy.

Now I was wanting to ask if anyone had Noticed how Much a Nice Looking First Edition Iver Johnson M1 Carbines are going for and the People who are Selling them are getting asking Price. I was on GB the other Day and the Cheapest Nice One was over 700.00. I have a Sweet '78 1st series MY Carbine in the 400 S/N Range and It Needs a Good Home. I have Never Sold on GB. I also seen the Same Prices on GA & GI. I am wanting to put it up for sale and I don't want to put it on Gunbroker and I've Never Sold anything on the CMP Forum. Does anyone know someone who like a lot of others are Starting to buy these up would let me know if they know Anyone to let me know.

Charlie, No Doubt at All...Jim was a Great Guy and I sure wish he was still around. I mean look what he did he outed this Guy for burning people in this Group, I'm pretty sure he banned him or told him if he didn't leave he would do something worse like put his name out there. I never did ask him what happened I just knew Jim didn't put up with anyone like that. Then to send me those parts dang right there he always had my respect.

Charlie, Thanks for sharing those IJ Post on GB. I lost my phone just the other day and ended up getting a T-Mobile 5 REVVl 5G with 3 Camera Lenses and a Strong Flash and I'm back learning how to take some Nice Pictures but today I was just having one of those days. I have a Nice early '78 AA low S/N IJ M1 Carbine and I been looking at some sights that I couldn't believe how much these Sellers wanted and we're getting. I was wanting to put this one up For Sale and see how much it would go for, but I really need a Good Starting Price then let it ride.

If I could take some better Pictures tomorrow I will take some and show it to you.

I Sold one of my NPM's and purchased a Donor Flip Sight from Northridge for it and you wouldn't believe how Really Cheesy they Actually look compared to the ones they Show on Ebay to Sell a 10.00 dollar piece of Metal for Over a 100.00. I guess you really got to make them look pretty darn nice and maybe use a little paint or oil but this one doesn't look like the one they use for selling. The little baggy it came in the bottom was full of a bunch of tiny pieces of rusted metal.

I've seen guys grabbing up the early Ivers. Cheaper than GI and saves wear on a GI. Many like and use them.
Register on GB and offer it up. I see many sellers put in their conditions that the buyers FFL must accept from private owner or buyer pays for your FFL's fee.
Nows the time to sell if your going to, Go for it !

Most definitely So...The Problem with GB is that I have Never listed a Carbine to Sell and the last time I tried it was taken down. I really don't know why because they actually had it up. I think if you haven't listed anything I have to leave a open CC so they can get there fee's.

The same thing with the CMP forum. I've Never listed anything on it. I Need to get someone who knows how and explain it to me or they can list it with me.

I really do need to find out why because the one I have Looks and Shoots Amazing and know it will Sell or do what you said and list it here.
