M1903 Stripper Clips

I've checked the book I have and searched the forums and seen some discussions of the variations of U.S. stripper clips for the M1903/M1917 but found no detailed information on the firm dates for when each type was used or introduced. All I've seen is that stripper clips with patent dates on them are supposed to be WW1 era; and that the type of clip developed by Ashworth was developed in the 1920's and that the last variation of clip with the single trough and the cut outs in the ends for the spring tabs was WWII era.

But I was looking for more information on when each type was used and would have been loaded with ammunition, especially the types that are more common to come across these days.

Also when was the switch over from brass to parkerized steel made?

Do Brophy or Campbell or others cover this information a little more?

It would be great if someone would invent new stripper clips made out of some kind of polymer that are cheap to produce, hold the rounds securely, and are reusable. It still has a place as a militia arm and being 30-06 there is a lot of ammo out there that will cycle through it. To use it as efficiently as possible requires stripper clips.

I have some very sturdy, I believe stainless steel, stripper clips I bought from a
target shooter supply company in TN years ago. They were not cheap but seem like
they would last a life time. I think I am not supposed to mention names of the co.
on this forum.
