Finishing up a Brit No7
Just got back in town to find a package waiting for me from a fellow forum member. Surprised as shipping was very quick and I had not had a chance to send funds as I have been out of the States for the past weeks up in Canada
.
This will help finish up the trauner.
It started with one of those barrelled recievers from the Springfield sportes sale o-so-many years ago. I had pretty much lost all hope of finishing one of these off. At one poing I had purchased a No8 complete bolt that I was going to rob parts off to put together a workable, but incomplete bolt.
When Century posed the parts they had purchased from the SS sale, I managed to buy several parts, to include the last bolt head the had, for the princely sum of 30 dollars.
Thens were still pretty much at a stand still, and then the magazine cases showed up at Liberty Tree, so I got one of those.
Recently I was offered many of the specific parts to finish it out, and they are on the way. I figure by the end of the month another will be resurected.

That would be very rare, I'd like to see that. There is a No2 MkIV but I've never heard of a No7 MkIV - are you sure it is not either a "No7 Mk1", (with a 5-round magazine) or "CN07 Mk1" (single shot) both are 22LR trainers.
No7 Mk1 (Repeater)

Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

Yes I agree there is a No2 MkIV but I've never heard of a No7 MkIV either

Well, the last part of the puzzel has been purchased, and I will soon start the assembly process. Will be a fun project and I will take photos along the way. Probably start the build in about 2-3 weeks. I will start a build thread when the project kicks off.

(Hope this isn't a thread hijack! If so, please delete)
This is interesting. My parents bought me a .22 SMLE for '63 or '64 Christmas from one of those 1" ads in American Rifleman. As I recall, they paid $25, which was a huge amount for my fairly poor family. I was informed at the time (can't recall by whom; probably the seller in the small ad) it was a Canadian
-manufactured rifle. Mine was based on either a Mk. I or Mk. III (I was too young and uneducated to know the difference, and didn't care anyway. The only thing that mattered was it looked like what Tommys used at Tobruk!). Just looked it up online (side menu - animated) and apparently what I had was a .22RF Mk.IV* S.M.L.E., but it definitely did not have that high-rise rear sight.
It came with a standard mag with all internals removed (ask me how I know...fished a LOT of fumble-fingered live .22 rounds out of that mag). Did a lot of hunting; amazed I could hit sparrows on the wing with that boat anchor. I don't think I was that good a shot so I must have gotten lucky a lot.
Rifle was stolen in '79 when my apartment was trashed by a jealous former boyfriend of a woman I'd stopped dating several months earlier. Never recovered, as far as I know. Apparently I angered the Universe!

Hal, I'm happy to take detailed pics of the bits you are making up - like the extractors etc. I guess. PM me if you get stuck.

Limpet, I should have everything I need at this point, except time.
Rob, I should be good on parts. Thanks for the offer.
