WW1 Sniper rifle case?
I picked this up recently as it matches the type of other rifle slips I've seen that are of WW1 origin. It was not until I received it in the post that I realised it has a gusset so that a rifle with a telescopic sight will fit. Given the length of the gusset a SMLE with an Aldis would be a good fit. Has anyone seen something similar?

"Ammunition Column 54th Brigade Royal Field Artillery"? Interesting piece, but if it was a WWI issue for scoped rifles, I would suggest the markings are not related to such use.
Certainly not unknown for officers who were shooters to take their own rifles to the front, even if in the artillery.
With a bit of digging you might find out who "HEP" was.
“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”
Edward Bernays, 1928
