    Colt Black Powder Revolvers

I pulled my Colt Navy out yesterday just to look at it and the cylinder is in really bad shape. Thought it would be difficult to find a replacement for it but I've actually found several. My question is, how do I know if this will actually work on an original or not.

Numrich is calling it an (F Frame). What does this mean? Is it for a modern Colt pistol or original? Kind of looking like this is for a 1958 version of the pistol.

Dixie Gun works also has one they claim will fit on several versions including the originals but they are out of stock at the moment.

I don't want to spend $100 on something that won't work.

call VTI gun Parts (NY) at 860-435- 8068, they will help you. I believe Uberti made the Colt revolvers and VTI should
have the correct cylinder. The gap between cylinder and barrel on the 1851 should be around .003 with a feeler gage.

I have an Uberti 36 cal 1851 Colt cylinder, nice condition but used, don't know if it would fit your revolver but if interested
let me know ? My cylinder is from the 1970's. I converted everything to cartridge and really don't need it

Just to be clear as I wasn't in my first post. I have an 1863 produced Colt Navy. Dixie gun works says their replacement cylinder fits Uberti and originals so yours might work I'll try calling VTI next week and see what they say.

The "F" designation really does not tell you anything about the frame sizes. See this: Colt frame designations | Colt Forum
