Nice piece. Good luck with the rifle.

LOL, it appears the rifles do not exist. Not a bite on Gunbroker in completed listings. Just the bayonet.
Forgotten Weapons did a video so they did exist.

It isn't. The US requires an importer license to import firearms. Not sure how that affects antiques, but a French
rolling block is not an antique, made after 1898 in 1915 and 1916. My Berdan II which was imported by RTI does not have an import mark. Not sure if that means it was missed or it didn't need one. It is an antique. My various rifles from IMA also lack import marks so I assume antiques do not require it.
There are exceptions for servicemen returning home. There are a few Afghan bring backs of old firearms, no automatics however.

Importer's license...Joe Salter on your east coast. He has one. Brings guns over from Canada
regularly. Antique Handguns/Pistols Firearms For Sale | Down East Antiques
Sorry if I'm beating this to death...

Yeah, I think you're beating a dead horse. Not saying under the right circumstances for the right price I wouldn't try to make a deal but I can't say I've heard a lot of good things about Joe Salter and from what I understand, he's way more pricey than I want to deal with. I really haven't investigated him much but his name has popped up here and there over the years.
