This is I feel is ridiculous price for what it is, the pandemic has skyrocketed the prices of anything connected to militaria into the unobtanium realms.
And the same goes for weapons, 3 years ago you could pick up a SLR bayonet/Scabb for $100/AU now they want $330+ AUD.

There may be a ghost bidder not saying anything squirrelly in this sale but nearly 2K for a 2pdr A.P projectile means my big calibre stuff is a gold mine!!!!!!

I've always thought so. I found a 6Pdr solid while cleaning out a militaria shop basement to replace my pitted field pick up. Was thinking about selling the old one...maybe worth it.

I've pretty much decided I'm out of the rifle buying business. Bayonets won't be too far behind I suspect which is one reason I've been hitting them hard lately. Pistols seem to be the only exception and I'm not sure why, maybe because they were so freaking high before the pandemic.

I'm just glad I got what I did when I did. And I got a late start.

The interesting thing about all this is the seller......if like me in the 60 to 80 bracket, a bit worried about mortality with all the dogs diseases floating around and the survival of his/her age bracket.

Add in dementia and those other diseases that hit our age group with little warning, you can understand the reasoning for selling for as much as possible to at least ensure covering long term medical costs or the future security of family and loved ones.

It's high time I started to get rid of my lot before I cark it and the family sells off at a fraction of the real value.

Trench Art usually refer's to WW1 items modified by soldier's either while on rest or wounded.
Quite a lot of it is also post war, selling to the families who visited the sights of their fallen sons.
I often see shell casings with 1914-1918 etc, so obviously post war. Some of it maybe very recent!
This article is not in that category; but maybe e-bay don't have a Munitions section.

I remember we had a long session discussing this Kev, I just can't unhand my 20Pdr shell with projectile after 30/40 years of searching for it...plus other cocaroca... I have the exact same thought process as you so I just gave instructions of WHO to call in and then told them about it. Once we're gone we won't be worrying. Others will do what they do.

This example just seems to have got out of hand if you look at the bidding. It started at the exact price I would expect to see and went ridiculous... Aussie and CDN bucks are about par.

eBay has some odd rules when it comes to munitions which is why the odd labels. They were not allowed six months ago, so empty shell casings were called vases and umbrella stands. Then about six months ago they started allowing them to be listed again. They had been allowed before that also so it's kind of checking the weather with them. I think it's people still wondering about whether it will be allowed or not and trying to disguise it more than anything else. Trench art is allowed with no problems.
