C&R Application Question
On the green form I received, it wants to know my Position and SSN. I know my SSN, what is my position if an individual collector? Or better yet, has any one filled out this form since the May 2005 revised date and what did you put?
Thanks,
Pat

Your "position"
Pat, I submitted my application in Jan. '08, and vaguely remember that question. I, an individual not associated with any company, simply answered "None" and that was the end of it. I had the license in hand in three weeks. It worked for me. BTW, I was intimidated by all the horror stories about the BATFE, but found the staff there to be very helpful with regards to some questions I had. And I still haven't heard jackboots at the door. So if you're still worried, send them an email or call. Hope I have been of some help, Bruce

Simply indicate your position as that of a "Collector of Curios and Relics." This is how I have always responded to that particular question on my original as well as renewals.

I just tell folks to put down "collector". This is a vestigial question left over from the time that all applications for an FFL (C&R was just considered a type of FFL) were submitted on one form.
ATF started to make a C&R something other than an FFL type. Some of their forms & pubs were changed, some not. One of the problems they face is that every year some of our representatives in Congress put riders in the Treasury appropriation bill, requiring them to do some things, & prohibiting them from doing others.
