early dated pre WW1 leather sling on ConD 11* rifle
I have owned this rifle for a long time and did talk with the late Skip Stratton about the markings. He was of the opinion that this was a left over Mark 1 action body assembled later on. Barrel matches action and also dated '07. This rifle is without import markings and was found at a remote gun show years ago by a friend who later sold it to me.
I might be wrong about the date, but looks like 1913 to me. At first I thought it was 1919 ?

Looks like 19 to me.
Hepburn, Gale & Ross was a prolific maker of leather articles.

It looks like a 1919 to me also... But I have to ask, who would have been making those antiquated slings after the first war proved them archaic? I think some were made for WW2 for home guard use as well as Ross bayonet scabbards.

I had some home guard leather slings NOS dated 1941 and sold them.
I think the early Hepburn, Gale & Ross leather slings are marked with periods on the letters, no steel, copper was tinned on the rivets
