Just wondering is its a sold out of service marking, it being the S as is commonly used on equipment as O.P shows in their pic#2.
Nothing in Skennerton
Broad Arrow MK I or II that I could see.

I believe he means the two 'crossed arrows' in the circle.
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...
