Looking for Dad's rifle # 3265202
I am looking for 1903a3 serial number 3265202. I know it is a long shot to find it but it was the rifle my dad was issued before shipping out to North Africa in Dec. 1942.

It’s a long shot but you can file a FOIA through TACOM at Redstone.
At least in the interest of being thorough.

Be sure to include in your request the type of firearm, as well as monetary amount you agree to pay up to. (It’s free I usually just say $25)
The registry only goes back to 1975. It’s worth a shot. No pun intended. See if it shows up in their registry for some odd reason.
Good luck!

Are you certain it is an A3? I have #3285588 and it is a 1903.

I remember talking to him before he died in 2000 about how he remembered the serial number after all these years. I showed him a 1903 that I had and he said that his had a peep sight in the rear. He did not remember anything else about.

That would make it a 1903a3 if it has a peep sight on the rear of the receiver

S/N 3265202 is a Remington M1903 rifle. It is not an M'03-A3. And if he shipped out in December, 1942, then it is extremely unlikely that he was issued an M'03-A3, since the first ones weren't shipped from the factories until December, 1942. And I will mention that an M1903 rifle rear sight has a peep aperture when the leaf is elevated.
Good Luck!

Dang forgot about that
Don't know why since I have a 1903
and use the peep 99.9% of the time

That is the correct serial number and it had the A3 rear sight because he showed me where it was on the back of the receiver. It might have been unlikely but it is what it is.
Thanks again guys.
