Went to a large indoor yard sale today and was just looking at this guys stuff and he made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Buy it all for $40. Nothing terribly exciting but these shirts were included and I can't identify them. The patches were in a separate box I didn't see before purchasing and I didn't realize they went with the shirts. Why he cut them off I have no idea. That narrowed it down somewhat.
US Army 11th Airborne Division sometime from 1943 to the 1950's.
Two types of oval patches, one remains on the heavier stock shirt and has a blank middle, the second has a parachute and wings in it. No evidence this was sewn on the light shirt. The guy said it had come off of the heavier shirt and was over the one that is still on it which doesn't make sense to me. The Shoulder patch and the nicer pair of staff sergeant strips did come off the shirt, the stitching is still there. The stripes backing is blue or light purple rather than green which I'm hoping helps with the timeline.
