I had a Russian
Simonov when I was posted to Wainwright '85/'89. It was a real Russian and had a laminated stock, blade bayonet and chromed inside bore. It was a bit loose in the stock.
Ammo was still hard to get then so I was loading for it with a set of dies made from 30-06 dies. They worked perfectly.

Nice rifle.
That is one of the very few semiauto/full autos I'd buy if I could now.
Apart from my loved Garand
in .308 (like I used it at the Officer's School), I have no other rifles than bolt-action ones now.
Am getting old and grumpy

Good question...
By the way, a couple months ago, I came to good old SA and visited my dealer in Centurion, who is just a few paces away from "Shooting Stuff".
Didn't have time to see the place, though.
Next time, we could meet there
