Cz-52 rifle conversion to 7.62x39?
All I’ve ever heard was any conversion efforts using chamber inserts was not reliable and didn’t last. Does anyone know of a method to convert from x45 to x39 in 52 that actually works and is reliable, short of a complete rebarrel? I know magazine length issues are a concern as well.

I don't know what insert you have in mind but there used to be one for the 30 cal to make it 7.62x51. I had an M1
I converted, used sleeve locker inside a cleaned and degreased chamber and then ran a ream in so it headspaced correctly on a go gauge. The insert was supposed to be removable but I didn't want that. I never had any failures and as hard as I'd try it didn't shoot loose. I'd go through clip after clip and it stayed put until I sold it. The chamber was changed though, would have a ring where the shoulder of the 7.62 came up. I'd expect you might see something similar. I think it could be done. The mags, I wouldn't worry about unless you have stoppages.

Thanks. Yes I’ve heard there is a sleeve very similar to those for the M1
to convert those to x51. But, I’ve heard the ones for the Cz tend to fall out. But if you seal it in with glue, then….maybe. I’m just curious. Thanks.

I guess that's what it works out to. I also roughed both up a bit I think. Heat didn't seem to affect it and I know there's some thread lockers/loctite that is practically indestructible. I think the magic was when I headspaced and reamed it to correct spec.

I have one unconverted and one converted. I've tried to determine if there is a chamber insert in the converted one, but I haven't found a good way to see it well enough to tell. My unconverted one is more accurate, but that's just anecdotal and may not be indicative of anything.

I'm very curious how this turns out too... My M1
with the insert shot every bit as well as anything else did. There was anecdotal evidence that some competition shooters had shot high scores with M1s with inserts.
