Richard James Flaherty (November 28, 1945 — May 9, 2015) a historically notable United States Army captain in Vietnam War service. As once the smallest serviceman in USAicon history (standing at 4 feet 9 inches (1.45 m)) and inspired to undermine size-prejudice, investing his military leadership with insight and skills to survive bravery- Capt. Flaherty is today renown as "The Giant Killer"

Can't imagine how tough that fellow must have been to gain the rank of Capitan in the military environment. His heart @ tenacity obviously outsized this physical stature.
    RIP

"The taller they are the harder they fall.", as was once said by a "friend of the family" trained in unarmed combat during WW2 by the Royal Marines. We never did find out what she did during the war but she did once disclose that she had flown in a Lysander.

There is a documentary and a book available on Richard James Flaherty produced by a retired police officer who befriended him near the end of his life. I will order one or both and report back.
