I came 30 seconds from making a big mistake
Ebay bayonet. Looked real nice. Price this morning was very good. It's a Uruguay M1900 bayonet.
The price in the afternoon went up a good bit so I'm doing searches for values so I don't get myself into trouble. Found a recent sale for just a little more than this one is going for but this is in much better condition. Found an older sale for one substantially higher than what this one is going for.
Keep looking, time running out. I go to page two. A milsurps link is there so I click on it and dang, it's MY POST FROM A FEW YEARS AGO. Already had one and forgot about it. Quick closure of the bidders box. That was close.

That was close. What on earth would you do with TWO rare bayonets? I did the same with ordnance, except I was well aware of what I have. Now I have three 3Pdrs rounds complete and only really want one. Hard part is getting rid of some of this stuff.

I've nearly, inadvertently, purchased things on eBay due to nodding-off to sleep and unintentionally "clicking" whilst browsing the site. I'm not sure that eBay pursue people who don't pay up after buying things as, occasionally, I've had people not pay after buying from me on eBay.

Hope your wife doesn't read all your posts! It gets worse from here; I know someone who sold guns he wanted to keep and then replaced them with ones he didn't need.

i have a grocery list of sold regrets , especially when i did the purge , early on my collecting was all over the map with no focus , so in order to condense the number of calibers i had to keep stocked i chose those that "meant the most to me" and sold the rest off , used that money to reinvest into my focused , unfortunately like an idiot i did not take into consideration that some would out pace inflation and acru value well above what i had invested , couple early SP1 , pair of SVT40's
had a ultra rare Turk mauser that escaped the great ANKARA rearsenal to 8mm , must have been brought to the states thread from 2006 still shows up on google search https://www.greatwarforum.org/topic/...er-model-1893/ link to the discussion after i found it , this was dead in the middle f my purge and all the Turk mausers were sold , this rifle when i bought it i paid i think $150 and was told it was a swedish mauser by the sales guy , i had swedes before , knew that wasnt correct but admittedly i was stumped , i was thinkin south america contract but even then the crest was like none i had seen , after a week of digging i hit pay dirt , it was the Tugrah crest and from there it all fell into place , condition was bad , heavy pitting in spots and there was literally a 2 inch section of the bore that was just gone , so being in the purge i decided i didnt even want it as a wall hanger and listed it , sold for less than $20 under 3K , pics were lost when the computer took a crap , and when photo bucket went mandatory premium they froze the account because i wouldnt let them to extort money from me to get the pics which were just used for forum pics , and i had them on the computer which took a crap of course , was told later there were only 6 configured like mine in the states , mine was a previous unknown number 7 , i am still to this day satisfied with the profit margin on that one , i think i bought an Poly AK and a BNZ 43 RC SSZZa4 k98 and a pistol for basically $150
if you do not have regrets from sales then you were never a collector ,lol
