Military surplus...how modern does a 'gun' hafta be before its not milsurp anymore and starts to fall into the 'black gun' class?

IMO, "milsurp" has no age limit, the only criteria is whether or not it was used in military service. If you could get your hands on a C8 it would certainly be a milsurp to me. Of course that's just my opinion.
I'm sure there's as much bias in the milsurp community against "bad" or "evil" guns like FALs and G3's as there is against AR's by "sportsmen."
My interests in military surplus arms run from Mosin Nagant M91's right up to my FAL and G3A3. They all belong here.

We're fairly open-minded about it. For exmple, if you took an M14
parts kit and put it on a Norinco receiver, I'm willing to let it pass as milsurp for discuccion purposes. On the other hand, putting a GI bolt into an otherwise Norinco M14 is something for the off-topic forum.
A Bushmaster AR-15 is not a milsurp. A Colt M16 is.
