Hypothetical situation:
While our Army is bogged down in pursuit of bad guys in Afgahnistan, the Mongolian Horde (or whatever Horde) has invaded the United States. You have fled the homestead with your family intact but without your cache of weapons. Your are at a close friend's domicile when word reaches you that a marauding patrol is within a mile of your location. You and your friend decide to defend your families against these raping, pillaging heathens. Your friend has only three weapons but lots of ammo for each (he began hording ammo after November 08). He has his favorite weapon, a dolled-up AR15 with all the bells and whistles and gives you the choice of the remaining arsenal ... a low number M1903 or a National Ordnance 03A3.
Which one will you choose to defend hearth and home???

I'd gamble on the low number 03, but that's just me.

LN 03 till safe to go scavange for a replacement on what you already took out and hope to get lucky and find a just as hard hitting m1 or m14/m1a

I would stick with the LN 03 - period. Lots of pastures around my house, and nice long shots in the open. In Catlin's "With the Help of God and a Few Marines", a Marine private tells of how he made 600 yard shot after shot and watched the Huns drop like a pinball machine (his reference). His rifle got so hot he had to slow down his rate of fire.

Give me the LN. If it was good enough to win WWI, it is good enough for me.

Low number 03, beats the POS Nat ord, hands down..
i have a good stash, and like;y wouldnt need to touch any 03, or an AR variant, {i dont own one}
nothing like my good ol, Remington 700 in .375H&H. kills 5 badguys with one round.
and takes em at long range to boot.
