Someone on another site said that after the initial conversions of gas traps at the Armory, the gas traps that were already at the units, the units did the conversions of gas traps that they had,...
Someone showed me what it looks like without the repair and that makes the repair easy to recognize.
I'm really not sure what I'm looking at.
134440 And if it does show the 7th round stoppage repair, why would that mean its a restoration?
I know they changed gas traps to gas port’s especially the ones that hadn’t left the factory, but what about ones that had? Were they sent back to Springfield or did a regimental or division level...
I honestly can't tell. I don't know much on that subject.
I know a fair amount about M1's, but I know next to nothing about these. Mr. Canfields book didn't have much, neither did Mr. Duff's so I'm coming here for opinions, Some of the pics are a little...
That was an excellent and informative article Bob, thank you.
Sun here this morning, rain this afternoon and for the next 5 days. I don't seem to be able to get the 6 SA safety. The side by side receivers are my 8-41 and this 10-41. I hope these are better.
Thanks. I’ll delete this post and try again when I have some sunlight.
The stock has been heavily sanded but Cartouches still mostly visible. Other than the Type III lockbar I think its correct. It still having a sight seal was the real surprise to me.
I have not. I guess I better.
Thank you. It doesn’t show any of the parts well in that, but flush nut sight, it’s correct, but not original. The 10-41 has a sight seal, but type III lockbar, that may have happened during the...
I've been doing a little M1 photography lately. First pic: 6-53 SA/JLG at Ayers Natural Bridge, Wyo. Second pic: 10-41 SA/GHS RIA FK at South Pass, Wyo. Third pic: 8-41 SA/GHS Wind River Canyon, Wyo.
Thank you Bob, that is the quote I need to remember. I did this with a 6-53 SA/JLG I bought( paid a couple hundred more than I knew it was worth, but it has caught up).
I was reading the thread on the Winchester LL and they were talking about that. It made me think about the darker heel on mine. Someone on another site said they saw no sign of annealing, so I didn't...
I'm wondering about the darker color on the heel of the receiver. It doesn't look normal. Is this whats called annealing or my imagination?
That's the GHS. But I got the 5,82X,XXX a couple days before.
I did buy a couple.......I just forgot to tell her they were for her.
Thanks Jim! Very cool article.
I took her shooting with my first carbine. After she shot it, she said, that's mine. So I got to buy another.
Hahaha! I do live in Wyoming. We're not feeling so lucky this year. Snow has been on the ground since early December. It usually melts then comes back. Getting this one was part luck(knowing where to...
Yes, I meant front sight seal, my bad. The seller said he used some parts he had to make it correct so, I don't think its original. What I got it for I'm ok with correct not original. The gas...
I finally got an SA/GHS. I've tried for years and never have been able to afford one. This one is correct, not original and I was hoping for your thoughts on my new family member. There is no rear...
