i just picked up a type 99 first series and it came with an original sling that is supple, what should i put on it and how often to keep it this way. i also noticed that both swivels are rusted...

i have a type 30 carbine with rounded lands and dark groves. is this gun worth the brass, bullets, and dies to shoot occasionally. or should it be retired to the wall
