Watch the auction sites or post an ad on the bards.....
This past weekend I picked up a 1895 dated Krag bayonet. I knew it looked different with some blueing in the blade. From what info I found about 10k or so were blued in 84 and 85 but the practice was...
As thers have said shoot her first and make sure you need a new barrel.....
That's some nice haul...great pics!!
I agree def not military. But can be corrected.
I am sure the auction house has heard similar questins from others and is just going to let the bidding go as it may.....
Felton must be some real investigative journalist. I watched several of his episodes on WW2 history and have been impressed immensely.
I agree with what others have said. What I remember hearing was a lot of QC issues and I would see how she runs. Once you see if she runs correctly and accurately you can better gauge a value.
Really nice looking rifle.....
I am helping a friend sell of some of his collection. He has 6 assorted 1919 barrels:
Two WW2 vintage 1919A4 barrels in 30/06 Flaming bomb marked used in good shape
Two New 1919A4 30/06 barrels...
Just my 2 cents but Savage would not have been paid if the rifle was not accepted for US service. The mark was removed in an FTR over the last roughly 75 plus years time....
I agree from what knowledge I have.....
+1 they are marked behind the rear sight that way on Garands and are scarce. Nice catch on a nice 1911......
I have seen that happen before. That what can happen when you get Two scholars in One room....
At the Tulsa show some years back I saw about 2 dozen of these. they were repacked in the 50's like a lot of ammo was as well and they bear the repack date after inspection....
We lost a great Guy...But At 103 it was a good life!
Insanity......Glad I put away 3 sets of Slaz marked wood in the late 90's
For $400 that's a steal.....
Like another poster said if its not broke. If the rifle functions fine then just clean any active rust.....
Looks really nice... enjoy her!
I agree on the front sight and the duracoat spray on. Look how weak the barrel markings and serial number are.
I know Israeli markings and it does not look like that. I am going left field and thing it looks like a Iraqi marking I had on a German K98 years ago. Rings a bell in the back of my mind.....
Nice find... enjoy her!!
Mine was the same way when I got it about 2008. From what I understand it was left up tp the soldier./
