I agree w previous poster- Blue Locktite.
Clean off sight/ sight base well. I use brake cleaner.
Works.
My understanding is that other nations militaries contracted for local replacement parts for m1 carbines.
Could the original posters M1A1 buttplate not be foreign military replacement (as opposed...
Cinders, in Florida, unless you are a convicted felon and have lost your rights to own an firearm, a M1 carbine w/ loaded 15rd magazine is completely legal on your property. No issues. Period.
noted that the carbines are in storage in compliance w/ ATF and Miami Dade rules?????????????
Are M-1 carbine bolts "drop in"?
I seem to remember that they are not "drop in".
Any feedback appreciated.
Folks talking about Vietnam and the draft. I was already "in" when I read the draft numbers. I was 322. If I hadn't raised my right hand earlier, I probably would have never had the honor of serving.
Bruce, spoke to the Bataan Death March survivors reunion @ Fort Devens in '91 or so. Found out some interesting stuff while doing research. The Americans and Filipinos (We) fought well. The Japs...
In addition to my father, uncle and others who heard about it on the radio at home, I knew two guys that were on active duty when it happened.
One was a SGT stationed in HI and in his quarters on...
Jim- browningautorifle squared me away on pix. Will take some this wknd.
Thank you, Jim.
Charley- don't see a small "r", but will focus on that w/ pix.
RE Pix- I would love to, but since photobucket started charging hundreds of dollars for third party posting, anyone have any guidance where to go to post pix?
Thanks,
Well, got a flea up my butt.
Cleaned the gun good.
Shot it- 100% function. First shot (as Inland44 said in prior post) broke the piston loose.
The chrome/nickle plated 30rd mag is marked M2...
Apparently I have too much time on my hands.
Looking further at the T-5 chute, I'm thinking that the Jump Case was attached to the straps on the chute, rather then the webgear underneath.
I can...
Also interested in this.
I see that the lower strap is either not used at all ( tied around end of case only) or worn very loosely around ankle/ calf area of leg.
I can see that the big horizontal...
Gentlemen, thank you for the feedback.
The NOS GI 15's and 30's work 100%.
The recoil spring is GI and NOS/ correct 10.25" length and just replaced extractor and spring. The ejector seems...
A friend gave me a mixture of about 50 NOS and well used GI and commercial M1 carbine mags- mostly 15s w/ some 30's.
Frustrated that, except for NOS GI, most commercial and used GI are problems-...
FlightRN, I think that the 90 Inf Div Reenactment Group has a research article on the M-8 launcher. I don't remember reading of any being produced by Govt/ military after WWII.
If you're OK w/ a...
It does say "hold for surplus" above the April '51 date.
Tom, thanks. Didn't know that about the 60mm.
In the SF "Q" course, did get to shoot the dummy Energa rifle grenade (M-29?) once (thanks, God) for familiarization.
Did see a live one fired to...
Tom, roger that. I imagine that launching the 60mm mortar shell modified to shoot as a rifle grenade w/ a blank would probably not go far enough to get me out of the blast radius, ha!
Speaking of...
Update: I broke down and bought a late model M-8 repro from Ravenna Armory for $175 plus shipping (shipping about $11.50 to me). Excellent copy/repro- fully functional- very well made- heavy duty...
I'm not a carbine expert, but do know something about Federal Stock # (FSN).
The rod package has what appears as a FSN starting w/ 1005.
1005 is small arms related.
There is what appears to be...
I think that Bill Ricca's site has info how to repair fins on M29 practice rifle grenades?
RE the live ammo and being cked by the security forces- Midwest, as in Chicago?
And a rent a cop checks...
Tom, full agreement if I had one or a couple made by a competent machine shop, but I'm comparing w/ KeepShooting.com and their $34.95 M-76 for the M-14/M1A rifle probably made by Wayne Machinery in...
oh, well. Thank you for the feedback/ info.
