IMR4227 has worked well for me. Also works with slightly reduced charges for my Ruger Blackhawk in .30 carbine. Lee has data. Not as finicky as W296 it seems.
BTW Welcome back! I've been away a...
The Hornady rounds are good, but a little on the hot side (this is not a complaint). They seem to work fine in my carbines, but I have problems with cases sticking in my .30C Ruger Blackhawk, in...
Interesting that the roll crimp on the front seam is rolled the opposite way the mags. Were they marked the same?

The muzzle blast from my 6 1/2 inch Ruger Blackhawk in .30 carbine is something to see at twilight! ;-)
A bit slow in posting, and a bit OT, but I noticed in some videos from Paris during the Charlie Hebdo murders, that some of the French Gendarmerie appeared to be carrying Ruger Mini-14's. Odd thing,...
I was lucky enough to buy a big pile of USGI pulldown bullets a few years back. Loading with the "do not deviate from" load of 15 gr of W296 has always worked well in GI or commercial brass in my...
Looks like a hand stamped M 1. Common on 6 mil serial #'s.
FWIW my 12/44 6.6mil Inland has vertical logo and oil hole.
First off: This is not a sale ad. I'm only "considering" selling one of my carbines to finance another gun purchase. I have one that's a bit out of the ordinary and have no idea what to ask for...
Looks a lot like a stock that I took off an Italian rebuilt Quality Hardware that I got from CMP. Kinda fat all over. No markings at all.
Moved about a year ago from a 3000 square foot house to a 1400 square foot cabin in the woods in NE Alabama. Love it here on Lookout Mountain, but it's amazing how much useless crap you can...
All I can think of was maybe to absorb excess oil from around the firing pin and bolt, which could gum up in cold weather (deer season?). Old gun oils were more prone to thickening than the new...
Went and checked the vacuum-bagged carbine last night. Bag leaked.. Found that a sharp corner on the magazine I had put in with the rifle had chafed a tiny hole in the bag. So, I guess anything put...
I use the Breakfree for day-to-day use, but prefer the Boeshield T9 for longer storage. It leaves a drier waxy coating that stays in place. It comes off with any solvent, even regular gun oil. I...
I was lucky enough a while back to come across an unissued-condition, all-correct very late Inland. Has factory-installed bayonet lug and adjustable sights, appears to have never been fired.

I like the way you think..
Still trying to figure out how to putt...
OK - bought a silly new toy. A golf ball launcher for my AR. Unfortunately works exactly as advertised-500 yards on a mil spec 5.56 blank. Waaaay too much for my surroundings. Looking for a way...
Had the same FTF problem with 2 cartridges this last deer season. Cold as h3ll for Alabama. Barely dented the primers. Rounds fired after a second try, later. Think it was Winchester ammo though....
Glad a few others chipped in to correct my memory! Guys on this site are always happy to help.
OK-here's what I can tell you from memory, as I loaned my reference book to a buddy. It looks like a post-war rebuild. I don't recall Rockola barrels being used by Winchester, but it's not...
All kidding aside, Loctite does make a green variety. It will wick into assembled threads and pins. Good stuff, very strong, but not usually at your local hardware store. Try McMaster-Carr.
Birchwood Casey used to make a sight blackener spray. Haven't bought any in a long while, but I think they still make it. It's very flat spray paint that comes off easily with bore cleaner but...
