Awesome, thanks so much. I was wondering but it just seemed to be to close to a serial number and caught my attention.
Here's something interesting. I took the time to open it up and inspect it and found the serial numbers on the frame and side plate to completely different than the rest of the gun. Is it safe to...
Started the new year out with obtaining an Enfield No.2 MkI**. All numbers match, tight lock up and the bore is mint, the finish is amazing, I am sure it was refinished at some point. It's a 1942...
Very interesting, don't know if I've ever seen a Long Branch sniper. The post war dispersal of rifles I total understand and what I figured, I didn't think they'd sit around and create rifles buy...
Probably a nob question, but hey we're her to learn. Would Canadian soldiers been issued mainly Long Branches or would they have just been issued at random from British stock piles that Long Branches...
As for the direction ejection which type of slides do you have on them? The later type v and vi slides were curved to push the spent cases to the right more.
Thanks for all the comments guys! Yes the receiver is an Underwood. The majority of the parts are also Underwood except the trigger group which is all Inland.
I've been looking around for a M1 Carbine to join my collection for a while, a good deal poped up and I couldn't pass it up. It's a late second block Underwood with a very nice bore. The guy wanted...
That's exactly what I was thinking of doing if I had ever bought one. I was going to try and reworks the grips it came with. Thanks for sharing.
Personally I'm interested in original period item. My weapons are just as much military artifacts as they are firearms and bayonets. I've had the same struggle as a bayonet for my No.5 MkI originals...
I'd say you did very well with the ammo thrown in on the deal. Can't find one for that price in any shop around my neck of the woods.
Thought I'd share my M38. It's a 1939, SA marked. I wanted an M38 since my grandfather brought one home from the war but his was a 6.5. So I have this very nice specimen. The stock crouches are deep...
From what I can see the bolt is stamped serial matching but it is definitely a different font. Not sure of the use of different or same fonts on enfields.
I had looked at other photos that had the grain running with the draws. Because I am a visual learner that was what stuck in my brain rather than the Captains advice. It wasn't until after the glue...
Just thought I'd share some photos of my draw repair. I am very pleased with the outcome. Prior to the repair the barel would shift in the channel and there was a gap that was nearly a 10th of an...
[QUOTE=CruciBill;329969]Thanks for the reply.
Yeah, I kind of figured that "Refinish" was at the hands of some diabolical maniac.
LOL!!!! I love this term "diabolical maniac."
If it's just...
FR is Factory Rebuild in India. But they aren't the ones who coated it in spay poly, holy buckets is that thing shinny!
I would just like to say thank you to everyone for their advice and expertise, especially Mr. Laidler. I read his sticky about rebuilding the draws about 10 times and decided to give it a shot. Well...
Great looking carbine! That is a fantastic price, I have seen on that cheap in my parts for 5 years.
Thanks for the commitments. As for .308's I would not be a good source I collect WWII specific. I am sure others have their opinions.
Mike, it is not one of the more circular Steyr hoods, when I researched '43 Steyr's the ones that retained hoods did not have the rounded hood on them, I believe I ran across only one very early '43...
Lithgow 1942 ser. D 29100 with 3 '43 barrel.
This is my Kar 98k bnz.43 (RC). I have worked to restore this rifle to look how it did when it left the factory. I have scrounged the correct waffenampt 77 parts for nearly the entire rifle. Only...
Sorry to bring up an old topic. I just picked up a 1949 K31 a few weeks back and the bands are indeed numbered. The only part not numbered is the buttplate all else is matching and numbered.
Most of the time mosin numbers were ground and re stamped. You're seeing the original number and then the matched number struck over. It's quite common to have a ghost effect on buttplates. I have...
