Hello everyone. I recently received a box of bolt action rifle parts. Most parts were Arisaka, Mauser, 1903 Springfield, and M1.
This trigger guard was among the parts which I can't figure out what...
Btw - Being the optimist, I found what I was looking for. Standard Directory of Proof Marks Paperback – January 1, 1985
by G. Wirnsberger (Author)
Other than I bought them with other Mauser parts, I don't know for sure. Looks like an M91, 93, 95 from online searches though.
Here are pics of one of them. The inside has the letter "M". Also what looks like a serial number. The other one has no markings, but the shape and size is identical.

I only have the butt plates and was curious as to what the stamps meant. I'm just getting into collecting. I have a lot to learn!
I posted a couple of pictures in the first post - I was wondering if there was a directory somewhere of all the various markings since there were so many contracts to produce them.
I have a couple of butt plates with stamps on the tails. I've been searching online for a directory or listing of Mauser markings so I could determine the meanings, but can't seem to find too much....
Thanks J-Rod - It's definitely a training rifle. The barrel is smooth bore. From comparing online it looks like 1 type 38 trainer (it was sold as a 99)
On another topic - did you manage to get...
Thanks all - yup - It was cut
I just received an Arisaka training rifle. It was advertised as a type 99, but I'm not sure now that I have it in hand.
The serial number is 85. Stamped on the receiver, bold and firing pin. No...
]I finally have her finished. I rust blued all the metal parts. It was time consuming, but I'm really happy with how it turned out! The only thing that's missing is the extractor spring (I broke it...
I believe you're right! I took a take closer look - It looks like has been cut.
I finally got the stock finished. I used leather dye as suggested (Fiebing's). I did not bleach.
After a little experimenting on pieces of scrap wood I decided on 4 parts Cordovan to 1 part...
I received this barreled receiver on Gunbroker. It was identified as a Chilean 1912 chambered in .30-06, which it does not appear to be.
I expected a large ring receiver, but this appears to be a...
Is this what you need? I happen to have an extra. PM me if you still need one.
I recently purchased a lot of Arisaka parts on Gunbroker. Among the lot was a trigger guard that I don't recognize. It looks like a type 38, but with two differences. The floor plate release looks...
Hello all,
I'm looking for the front and rear barrel bands for an Arisaka type 99 long rifle (31 inch barrel). It will go on a Toyo Kogyo Series 35 long rifle.
Thanks for the suggestions. I just ordered some leather dye. We'll see how well I can match the colors. All my wood parts are from different sources. In addition to fabricating the front hand guard I...
I've been working on an Ishapore build for several weeks. I decided to fabricate the front hand guard with some walnut I had left over from another project. Next step is to make all the parts the...
This is my first post. I thought I'd share some photos of a rear handguard repair. I purchased the handguard on line and was disappointed to find that it had a chunk missing. Of course it was...
