After a few back surgeries I needed to find another way to use my spare time. I wouldn't be desporterizing the rifle to try and make a buck. I would be doing it for my own enjoyment/learning and...
Numrich has new wood for the No1 MkIII and I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on these. I would pick up a sporterized No1 if I knew that these were of good quality and would work for my...
I believe I got the right sight then. They mic the same (ID of the sight base and height) and the only marking on either is the Eddystone "E". Thanks for the heads up, I will keep and eye out if I...
Very nice!! My Eddystone is numbered 423891.
Front sight went on fairly easy with only light taps needed to get it lined up so the cross pin could be taped in. I cleaned and lightly touched up the parts and put a light coat of grease on them...
Both of my No4 4's have mismatched bolts but by following Mr. Laidlers article I was able to see that both bolts work for the rifle that they were mated with. Thank you sir for the article. I follow...
Thank you Patrick Chadwick for that, I was just worried that there was some trick or something that I should know about. It seems fairly straight forward and I will find where I put my brass punch...
I have a P-14 that I removed the front sight base off of due to a broken "ear" and was wondering if the install was easy (reverse of removal) or if there were some tricks or secrets to doing it.
Is...
That is very very heplful!! I currently have a 0.030 (has 14 on one side of the blade and 30 on the other) and would like to raise POA a bit. Good to know I've got some wiggle room yet. Thanks for...
Does memory serve correct in thinking that the two front sight blades are interchangeable? I know the No1 sights are not but I thought I remember reading that the P14 and No4 blades were.
Sorry, a bolt head for a N04 Mk1* in the stated measurements. I reread my original post and can see where I should have worded it different. My intent is to try and make this rifle as accurate as I...
This bolt/bolt head combo is not the same serial number as the rifle itself. The bolt lugs, while not perfect, both show signs that they make contact. When I looked I noticed that the bolt head does...
I'm looking for a No4 bolt head that measures .636" to .638" complete or not. The one on the bolt now is a #0 that mics in at .631" and I've called/e-mailed several places looking for a bolt head in...
Sorry but I went to the range today to sight in and round test my new .22. I only had 6 rounds of 30.06 left and shot 2 rounds which hit 3" high and about 1" left. Made a small adjustment and the...
The job is done and the index lines are now perfect. When I was picking it up one of the guys there (don't know if he worked there or was just hanging out) gave me his number and offered $550 for the...
I will most certainly ask if he knows what he is doing/has the right tool and if will pay for a new receiver if he cracks it. If "no" is the answer to any of these questions I will ship it to get it...
He came recommended from the guys at our local indoor range. While explaining the problem he knew what I was talking about...which can not be said of several of the other smiths that I called.
I...
Local gunsmith said $40 to index the barrel if I bring the barrel/receiver in. Sound about right?
gtodan- That was exactly what I was asking. I will shoot it and not feel bad about possibly decreasing the value of some uber rare, once in a lifetime Mauser.
Tim is a great friend and we do each...
So technically it's the sight that is out of whack because the barrel has been turned just that bit to far? Looks like she will be a safe queen until I can afford to have that taken care of. So to...
gtodan- thank you very much for the info! To me, that is one of those things that I love hearing about. As an ex-factory worker I can see this happening with no problem.
Now, being new to Mauser's,...
I figured something was amiss with the stock. Wouldn't the numbers have matched the receiver? Could it have been mated later on after breaking or getting damaged? The bore is bright and shiny with no...
Here is the picture you requested.
So it looks a thousand or two off, canting the sight over left by a degree. Wouldn't my corrections be to the right then?
At lest if it was reblued, whoever did it, did a nice job of it. The wood looks that way because after 10 years she was a touch dry and needed some linseed oil. Don't worry, no sanding was involved.

I spent $300 on this rifle from a friend who had her stashed away in a gun locker for the past 10 years. The stock is stamped 7245...
