Thanks to all those provided helpful comments which really was the reason why I was able to solve my problem with my Lee Enfield's difficulty in chambering
it was a journey from first a problem...
It started when I encountered my first case separation and after using the cerrosafe to remove the stuck case in the chamber.

i bought this no1 lee enfield and the receiver is puzzling in that normally on the side of the receiver the holes are vertical but this receiver has just one hole like a no 4.

There's so much to learn about the lee enfields, so much history. i will check the chamber, but how about the roughness on the rims. do you think it's the extractor being too tight,
with the new dummy cartridges, i was able to extract, two of the ok, third needed a bit of muscle, but all were able to extract,

sorry I didn't answer each suggestion separately but I have tried all that was suggested.

Safety is off, ie full firing position. after pulling on the trigger on the dummy round, i lift up the bolt handle to eject, but it goes half way, and stuck.
i had to use my palm to hammer it...
i have the same problem with both the no 1 mk 3 and no4 mk1 in that both locked and closed ok but when i tried to eject the bolt handle moved half way up and everything is stuck.
can't move up any...
