861 looks to be from about March of 1944. 198 would be too early as it gives a date of approx June 1942

The gunsmith at Epps is Doug Reid. Used to work with him and he is a very good man. They have a fairly good selection of Ross parts at the store and he may be able to find what you need. Best of luck.

Visited Ellwood Epps a couple of weeks ago and noticed that they have a not too bad selection of parts for Ross rifles. Always worth the call to see if they can help.
