Kragluver is on it and could probably write a short novel on the subject. I'll help out and add some.
There are a lot of factors you have to take into account such as the experiences and thinking...
Not many videos out there featuring these types of guns and I know a few of you will find this interesting.
The Colt is loaded to SAW era Service specs.
The Krag is squibbed so as not to blow...
Thanks Andi.
I would like some help finding cast gas checked bullets for the Krag.
Everyone wants about $30 shipped per hundred and I can buy jacketed Speer, Hornady etc. performance bullets for that much at...
Forgot to say-Nice carbines you guys have there
Because the M1896 Carbine Sight is correct for a Spanish American War M1896 Carbine, the only Krag Carbine to see service in the war, the Rough Riders carried them and they are the earliest standard...
Glanced at the sling too quickly and the eyes are going. Sorry. Put them glasses on.
M1887 sling-nice one-so you only have $200 and some odd dollars in the gun. Those accessories pull some...
Oh yeah-Nice rifle, you did good!
Your handguard has been altered, not supposed to have that step in it. The sight (M1902) is correct. Nice breech cover, muzzle cover and bayonet with the early style flush ground rivets. The M1907...
Hello CTMC
It makes my blood boil to know that this is a victory for the Police hating trash out there.
Sorry, I do not like to use less than lethal devices and given the history of the perp,...
Combat move and shoot match along with some 100 yard acurracy shots with pre 1903 post 1865 military cartridge rifles. Sounds like a lot of fun huh?
Thanks for the offer with help for the loads. I...
They are kind of cryptic with the "only good" description of the bore and the FFL only policy is added expense. NRA good would have sounded more promising, but the bore may just need a good cleaning,...
I guess I just run into all the jerks at the ranges.
I was firing an M27 .357 Magnum at Flatwoods Gun and Country Club in Hubert NC outside of Camp Lejeune. There was a gentleman there firing a...
I was at Charolette Rifle and Pistol Club in SC attending a match. Myself and a friend were told by the match organizer himself that my friend could take some sighter shots at an adjacent range. We...
Notice how he says guns are OK for hunting.
Then speaks of outlawing ammunition that will penetrate a bullet proof vest.
Like hunting ammo maybe?
The matches go out in Nebraska.
I always just shot Krags for fun, loading a jacketed 220 over 40gr of IMR 4350. Cast bullets seem to be a good alternative to the current ammo situation.
The...
I'm with you on the "asking" thing. You can get some great deals on the net.
All M1896 Krags are antiques, hopefully the seller will ship without an FFL if you buy it.
I agree totally Gyrene.
There was a young Marine in his mid 20's sighting in a Mossberg slug gun-railed, scoped out and the whole thing, even the sling, was real tree camo.
He was having...
That is an outstanding statement. Your understanding of the Marines and historical insight is noteworthy.
Now Dick Hosmer needs to get over here to answer Krag questions. I am answering questions...
I have only shot jacketed 185s and 220s, but there is a steel match for late 1800s military rifles that calls for lead bullets at under 1500 FPS. The Lyman/Ideal 311284 seemed to be the way to go...
In order of Production, straight up, as issued grunt guns:
M1861 .58 cal Springfield
M1895 .236 cal Winchester Lee (don't own yet)
M1898 Krag Jorgeson
M1903 Springfield
M14 (M1A) 7.62x51
...
Well, it has the M1896 sight, as it should. I do not see anything wrong with the rifle as far as being "correct".
Usually, when they don't say anything about the bore, the bore will be somewhat...
Thanks Andiarisaka.
Have you tried the Lyman 311284? Got any good data for it?
I can tell you all kinds of stories about jerks in the gun world and at the range. In my experience, there are jerks everywhere. It must be a very outstanding situation for those of you that are at...
You have a safety for an M1892. This early version had no spring loaded ball. One for an M1896 or later Krag will work.
Good luck.
