A quick check of the cmp carbine forum serial number sticky, shows three or four cmp sold carbines in the 6.94, 6.97, and 7.00M range.
I don't believe the cmp ever sold m2's, so these later...
Ha, Sounds like you gave it your best shot to get there. Just not meant to be. Very nice for someone to have given you that heads-up. That one picture in the link really left me wanting more, as...
Hi Charlie-Painter,
Thanks for originally posting that link. I am also curious to know what they sold for...especially the QHMC. I have one that's slightly later(4,849,4xx), than the one liste.

War Baby! page 386, bottom left column. Quality Hardware; Hammer, Type B, variation 2 (cast). Used on approximately 4,000 late production carbines. The next page also mentions a late production cast...
Other than being on backwards, an adjustable sight may be "more" correct. I have 5.218 mil with an original Pl adjustable. Not sure of the originality of that flip either...
Newscotlander,
It seems your statement,
"Apparently, no one ever found a hand stamped Inland in the serial number range 6219689-6449868. I have yet to see a photo. "
...still rings true. I...
I remember a discussion on the CMP carbine site earlier this year about the first reported hand stamped 1's. The earliest reports were in the early 6.6 mill serial number range if memory serves....
un-quality vrs. quality hardware numbers. Carbine of the month, newsletter #365. UN-QUALITY #4,458,855 also has an Inland barrel dated 3-44. It's serial number is only 1,195 away. So definitely close...
Looks quite nice. Does it have any cast parts? Trigger, sear, or hammer?
Nice stock. One of the 10,084 integrated to Inland from Rock-Ola. The high wood oval cut stock on the 9 million #'d carbine has the Inland cartouche on the right side but the Trimble TN w/I in the...
I know I've seen earlier serial numbered Inlands, supposedly correct, that had oval cut highwoods. One was #987,xxx. I would guess the I cuts would have continued to be used (mixed with the ovals) ...
mpd1978,
A Quality H.M.C. carbine I just purchased has the original RSG stock that could be a twin to yours. It's serial number is 4,849,4xx. The cartouche appears to be in the exact same spot,...
jmoore,
"data sheet on just the barreled receiver assembly?"
Absolutely; CC has mentioned that they could use carbine information of all kinds to add to the data base or for even an article in...
Excellent post Charlie, Thanks.
Want to add that; I would be the absolute last person to do a restoration and then try to pass it off as original. My search for original parts stems from 4...
Thanks for the input stu1! Nice to have all the answers, but I hope I never become too smug.
Was wondering if this is real or repo IBM barrel band. If I had to guess, the swivel looks to be real, but not sure of the band.:dunno: Appreciate all opinions. Thanks

Yes, thats the sight... Saginaw SG. Looking in War Baby for components integrated to underwood shows nothing from Saginaw SG. So, for some reason, my underwood probably had the band and front sight...
I agree with all above. Paul has gone out of the way to help me a couple times. Didn't realize until just now that he was m1cc on ebay. Purchased a nice barrel band and flip sight from him. Very nice...
the "front sight".
Glad you asked. Curious about it as well. Can't tell if it's ever been removed, but it certainly could have been. No scratch/friction marks on barrel or indentations from puller...
Charlie,
Thanks for the info on your W Underwood. Mine also has lighter stamped Underwood barrel date and "w", but can easily make them out. The barrel is dated 1-44. Has no type 3 barrel band...
What would be the correct slide for my 2,468,5xx "W" code underwood? I would guess type 3, but not sure. Also wondering if the type 1A band marked Ul, would be correct? This is a CMP service grade I...
Now that's some serious bling! Would look good sticking out of a scabbard in my '62 Impala with the fuzzy dice. ;)
Just wondering what the current market is for a clean DCM(1960's), mixmaster Saginaw(not S'G'), with all the original paperwork. Has a low wood Inland stock in nice shape. Appears to have the...
Been a carbine club member for four years now. Been "collecting" carbines for only five years(although I've owned and shot one in particular for 40 years). The information I've gained from the news...
